Wall Primers

At Marmorino Venetian Plaster we offer the following wall primers suggestions and recommendations for best mechanical bond between the existing substrate and new lime finish. Wall primers based on acrylic should be used with the application of our products.

Acrylics are recommended and so important to the application process and just as important as the actual application itself. If you do not have a correct mechanical bond or adherence between the old drywall or substrate then you will not have a good application.

Two readily available water based Acrylics suitable for our products we can recommend are Benjamin Moore Fresh Start and Kills 100% Acrylic with stain block (Home Depot).

We generally tend to use the first over new drywall and surfaces that have not had any treatment before, while we would use the latter over a surface that had previously been painted, wallpapered, etc, because of it's stain block capabilities.
